Thermography is a very useful tool for plumbing issues such as tracing heating pipes and leaks. We recently used thermography to trace the routing for an underfloor heating system where some of the loops did not appear to be working.

Thermography is very useful for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical equipment such as control panels. When a component starts to break down it will, most likely, heat up before it fails. Thermal imaging can identify unusual hot spots in a control panel and give early warning of a failing component before it fails so a planned replacement can be carried out before it fails and brings a production line or process to a stand still.
